Clarinet, Saxophone, and Flute Lessons
Queens, Westchester, Long Island, or your Home
I teach music lessons to all ages and abilities in the NYC metro - my apartment in Queens, my office in Westchester, or in-home lessons in the area, including Long Island, are possible. I teach clarinet, saxophone, and flute and perform regularly on all three instruments. My students range from complete beginners to accomplished high school students in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York, and also to college undergraduates and adult learners.
A lesson length of 45 minutes weekly tends to work very well for many. Less experienced students may prefer 30 minutes, and more advanced (high school or college) students may benefit from a full hour. If you're unsure, start with 45 minutes. In my opinion, a half hour is usually too short but the full hour can be exhausting for many students (and difficult to focus for that long). We can always change your lesson duration later as you progress. I am happy to help students prepare for NYSSMA - let's start early!
If you prefer, it is possible for me to travel to your home for lessons for a fee (depending on distance) as well.
Lessons will focus on fundamentals in sound production to get the most beautiful, full tone possible. We will also work on developing technique including scales and arpeggios. From there, students have the option of guiding lessons with their choice of music. I will help you find music that you will enjoy, but will also challenge you. If you like contemporary, jazz, pop, or commercial music we can work on those styles as well, including jazz improvisation. More advanced clarinet and flute students may also work on orchestral excerpts. I want you to enjoy the music you are working on!
Please contact me if you are interested in taking clarinet, saxophone, or flute lessons. I will get back to you within a day with details about lessons, including exact location, my rate, and a weekly time that will work for both of us. Please let me know what times work best for you for lessons and I will accommodate your schedule as best as possible.
